Uncertain markets result in bold predictions.
Financial analysts, hedge fund managers, and bank officials have lots to say about where the market is headed.
And the financial news is quick to publish these ideas.
After all, stories about the market are much more exciting to a general audience than discussions of indicators, set-ups, and probability.
We’re just wired to love stories, I suppose.
It’s much easier to sell a narrative than a probability-based trading system.
However, stories are just dressed-up opinions. No matter what the pedigree of the analyst.
Never forget that when it comes to market predictions, bull or bear, half will be proven wrong. That’s why I don’t listen to them.
On this point, I have to agree with the venerable Socrates:
“The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.”
